*8.RN.3.2: Analyze in detail the structure of a specific paragraph in a text, including the role of particular sentences in developing and refining a key concept.

- Reviewed and practiced details of Short Answer Essay (S.A.E.) for ISTEP practice- - - - -When SAE asks to cite details, always give evidence of 3 or more in response. - - - -When SAE asks to cite examples, always give evidence of 2 or more in response. The prompt students completed in class was the following with nonfiction text: Read the introduction to Chapter 7 of The Boys' War on p67. Cite several details that identify the types of changes farm boys encountered in the Civil War. Each student followed along with reading, while several students took turns, modeling and highlighting information to include in the essay response. Students completed a practice S.A.E. response in class. NOTE: Pds. 1, 3, & 8 partially completed their S.A.E. Period 5 completed their S.A.E.

- Periods 1, 3, and 8 completed S.A.E., begun on Wednesday. Period 5 completed a 2nd S.A.E. -p93 of Lincoln A Photobiography. Please see attachment.
- REMINDER!! Students will have a comprehensive spelling-vocabulary test on Friday, 1/8 the 7 tests from How I Found the Strong.
- Comprehensive Spelling-Vocabulary Test today! Students will be allowed to use their vocabulary binders.
- If time allows, Periods 1, 3, 5, and 8 will complete the 2nd practice S.A.E. and all Periods will work toward completion on their remaining vocabulary words with the PAVE Map format from the Learning Connection, IDOE.
