MONDAY -February 15, 2016  No School!  Winter Break!!

TUESDAY - February 16, 2016
  • Introduce spelling-vocabulary words.  Write sentences with students on study guide.  (study guide can be accessed below notes)  The study guide is due Friday, 2/19, the same day as the spelling-vocabulary test.
Critical Standards:

8.RV.2.1:  Use context to determine or clarify the meaning of words and phrases.
8.RV.3.1:  Use the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in works of literature, including figurative and connotative meanings; analyze the impact of
                 specific word choices on meaning and tone, including analogies or allusions to other texts.

WEDNESDAY -February 17, 2016​
  • Students will practice AR tests for the books Out of the Dust and Of Mice and Men.  After practice, students will complete tests online.  (Practice tests can be accessed below notes.)
THURSDAY -February 18, 2016
REMINDER: Spelling-Vocabulary test on Friday, 2/19
  • Make flashcards or put spelling-vocabulary words in quizzlet/iPad -student choice.
  • Read Chapter 2 from The Harvest Gypsies and take notes.
Critical Standard:
8.RN.2.1:  Cite the textual evidence that most strongly supports an analysis of what a text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.
8.RN.2.3:  Analyze how a text makes connections and distinctions among individuals, events and ideas.
8.RN.3.2:  Analyze in detail the structure of a specific paragraph in a text, including the role of particular sentences in developing and refining a key 
                  concept.

8.RN.3.3  Determine an author's perspective or purpose in text, and analyze how the author acknowledges and responds to conflicting evidence or
                viewpoints.

FRIDAY -February 19, 2016
  • ​Collect spelling-vocabulary study guides and administer spelling-vocabulary tests.  (Spelling-vocabulary test can be accessed under notes.)
  • Continue note taking on Chapter 2 from The Harvest Gypsies.
