specific word choices on meaning and tone, including analogies or allusions to other texts.
8.RL.2.1: Cite the textual evidence that most strongly supports an analysis of what a text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.
8.RL.2.2: Analyze the development of a theme or central idea over the course of a work of literature, including its relationship to the characters, setting
and plot; provide a detailed summary that supports the analysis.
8.RL.2.3: Analyze how particular lines of dialogue or incidents in a work of literature propel the action, reveal aspects of a character, or provoke a decision.

viewpoints.

REMINDER: Grapes of Wrath book group will have their spell-vocab test on Thursday, 2/11 and they may use their completed resources on Google.

- Assigned reading of Chapters 13 through16, by 2/11 for Grapes of Wrath book group.
- Grapes of Wrath book group will break into equitable groups and divide 30 spelling-vocabulary words on Google, completing work with definitions, synonyms, and sentences. Test will be Thursday, 2/11. (list of words can be accessed below notes)
- Assigned reading completion of book to Of Mice and Men book group, by Thursday, 2/11.

- Read Chapters 1 & 2 of The Harvest Gypsies. Students will read some of Steinbeck's actual articles written for The San Francisco News, about the migrants who came to California during the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression.
